Yemen, UAE Discuss Coordination on Common Issues

Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak met with UAE Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al-Zaabi in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to discuss joint efforts on matters of mutual concern. This comes as hopes for peace in Yemen rise after Saudi Arabia and Iran recently mended diplomatic ties.

The officials conferred on "strengthening bilateral relations, exploring avenues for further cooperation, and aligning stances on shared challenges," reported Anadolu Agency.

Ambassador Al-Zaabi reiterated his country's backing for Yemen's legitimate leadership and initiatives that ensure stability, security, and fulfillment of the Yemeni people's aspirations. He also expressed the UAE's support for UN-led efforts to achieve a lasting political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

This meeting signifies a positive development for Yemen's future. With Saudi Arabia and Iran thawing relations, prospects for a peace agreement in Yemen appear brighter.

The UN has been mediating peace talks in Yemen for several years. A two-month ceasefire brokered by the UN in April 2022 was extended twice, but fighting has since resumed in certain areas.

Despite the ongoing challenges, there is still hope for peace in Yemen. The meeting between Bin Mubarak and Al-Zaabi demonstrates the Yemeni government and the UAE's commitment to finding a solution to the crisis. With continued international support, peace in Yemen may yet be attainable.
