The UN And UAE’s Groundbreaking AI For Safer Children Collaboration
The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have formed a revolutionary alliance in response to the concerning global increase of materials related to child sexual exploitation and abuse. The AI for Safer Children initiative is a joint effort that was started in 2020 and is managed by UNICRI's Centre for AI and Robotics. This ground-breaking international project uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help law enforcement organizations fight child sex abuse and exploitation online. The increasing prevalence of child sexual exploitation on the internet presents a formidable obstacle for law enforcement organizations across the globe.
