Masdar Consortium Secures $1 Billion Bid for Saudi Solar Plant
Abu Dhabi's Masdar consortium, in partnership with France's EDF Renewables and Saudi conglomerate Nesma Company, has successfully won a bid to develop and operate a massive $1 billion solar plant in Saudi Arabia. The agreement includes a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC ), allowing them to construct and manage a 1,100-megawatt solar facility. This plant is expected to power over 190,000 homes annually and significantly reduce carbon emissions by displacing more than 1.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
