UAE's Humanitarian Outreach in 2024 - A hope to Millions of People

The UAE's humanitarian efforts in 2024 have been both extensive and impactful. The country has contributed over $788.8 million in foreign aid, positioning it as the 9th largest donor globally. This substantial support has been directed towards various crisis zones, including Gaza and Lebanon, where the need for assistance is dire.
In Gaza, the UAE's efforts have been multifaceted, providing medical evacuations, food aid, and winter clothing to those affected by the ongoing conflict. The UAE evacuated 55 seriously ill patients from Gaza, ensuring they received the necessary medical care. Additionally, a polio vaccination campaign reached 640,000 children in Gaza, demonstrating the UAE's commitment to safeguarding the health of vulnerable populations. To date, 2,254 Palestinian patients and their families have been treated in the UAE.Also on December 31, the UAE sent an emergency aid shipment to the besieged enclave to address rising infant mortality caused by extreme cold, malnutrition, and shortages of basic suppliesLebanon, too, has benefited significantly from the UAE's outreach. Through the campaign "UAE Stands with Lebanon", the UAE dispatched aid planes and ships carrying essential supplies, including food and shelter equipment. The UAE also allocated USD 100 million in humanitarian relief packages and USD 30 million for displaced Lebanese citizens in Syria.
Likewise for Sudan, The UAE also stepped up aid for Sudan and Chad, where hunger, displacement, and cross-border instability demanded urgent attention. On April 17, it pledged $100 million to assist Sudan and its neighbours, in addition to $10.25 million for UN projects in Chad - funds that prioritised Sudanese refugee women through healthcare, psychosocial support, and food security programmes.
