UAE Mediates Successful POWs Exchange Between Russia and Ukraine

In a significant diplomatic achievement, the UAE successfully mediated the exchange of 300 war captives between Russia and Ukraine on December 30, 2024. This exchange involved the release of 150 Russian captives and 150 Ukrainian captives, bringing the total number of war captives released through UAE mediation efforts to 2,484 in 2024.


The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized the country's role as a reliable mediator and reiterated its commitment to pursuing peaceful solutions to the Ukraine conflict. This marks the tenth successful exchange of Russian and Ukrainian captives mediated by the UAE this year. The Ministry also highlighted the UAE's dedication to addressing the humanitarian consequences of the conflict, including assistance for refugees and captives.

Throughout 2024, the UAE has been actively involved in various mediation efforts to resolve conflicts and promote peace in different regions. With 2025 approaching, this exchange brings hope to many prisoners and their families united after very long. It feel like the upcoming year is starting with the motto of bringing peace. The UAE's consistent and effective mediation efforts have underscored its commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond. The country's diplomatic initiatives have been instrumental in addressing humanitarian crises and fostering dialogue among conflicting parties.
