Ethiopian Prime Minister Opens UAE-Built Orphanage in Oromia Region

On December 20, 2024, Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed inaugurated a new orphanage in the Oromia Region, built with the support of the UAE. This project, initiated under the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and supervised by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is part of the UAE's broader humanitarian efforts to enhance basic services in Africa.

As a Beacon of Hope to the Orphans, The orphanage provides comprehensive facilities for over 700 orphans, including residences, two schools, a kindergarten, a library, a training center, and entertainment spaces. The project, costing AED 20 million, also features administrative offices and modern water supply systems. This initiative aims to offer a nurturing environment for children in need, ensuring they receive education, care, and support.

The UAE's involvement in this project is a testament to its commitment to humanitarian aid and development in Ethiopia. Over the years, the UAE has contributed significantly to various sectors, including health, education, and social services, to support the Ethiopian people. The country's continuous efforts to provide aid and build infrastructure reflect its dedication to fostering sustainable development and improving the quality of life for those in need.

During the inauguration, Dr. Abiy Ahmed expressed his gratitude to the UAE for its unwavering support and commitment to Ethiopia's development.
