UAE Establishes New Agency to Lead Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief Efforts

 

In a significant move to bolster its humanitarian outreach and disaster relief capabilities, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has established a new agency dedicated to leading these critical efforts. The UAE Aid Agency is set to become a cornerstone of the nation's strategy to provide comprehensive support and relief to vulnerable communities around the world.

As a Strategic Initiative for Global Impact,  The UAE Aid Agency was established under Federal Decree No. 27 of 2024, issued by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This agency operates under the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council and has full legal capacity to act independently, allowing it to effectively implement foreign aid programs in line with international humanitarian policies.

The primary mission of the UAE Aid Agency is to plan, oversee, execute, and monitor government support initiatives focused on, Disaster relief, early recovery , developments etc. It collaborates with global partners and local entities to address the humanitarian needs. The establishment of the UAE Aid Agency represents a continuation of the steadfast humanitarian legacy laid by the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized that the UAE remains committed to addressing global humanitarian challenges and fostering sustainable development.

Since its founding, the UAE has contributed over USD 98 billion (AED 360 billion) in foreign assistance, impacting over one billion people worldwide. The new agency aims to enhance the impact of the UAE's global priority foreign aid and maximize positive outcomes in executing humanitarian relief programs, initiatives, and developmental projects.

As the UAE continues to lead in humanitarian outreach, the world will witness the positive changes brought about by this dedicated agency, reinforcing the nation's role as a beacon of hope and support in the international arena.
