Jordan and UAE discuss the situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque

 


Jordan and the United Arab Emirates discussed the situation at Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem The Foreign Ministers of the two countries spoke on the phone about the events that took place at Al Aqsa Mosque last week Israeli extremists had entered the mosque which caused tensions. 


The Foreign Ministers condemned the entry of extremists into the mosque In particular they criticized the entry of an Israeli Minister named Itamar Ben Gvir They saw this as escalating the conflict in a dangerous way The region is already facing rising tensions. 


Jordan and UAE want to take coordinated action to stop such incidents in future They want international support to respect the status of the holy sites in Jerusalem  Jerusalem is important to Muslims Christians and Jews Jordan has a special role in administering the Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem.


The UAE FM supported Jordan role in protecting the holy sites. He said the historical role of Jordan through the Jerusalem Islamic Trust must be respected Only the Trust has authority over Al Aqsa Mosque complex This authority of Jordan needs to be acknowledged by all.


The two countries also called for de escalation of tensions An immediate ceasefire is needed in Gaza All unlawful acts in the occupied Palestinian lands must stop International laws should be followed. 


They welcome efforts by US Egypt and Qatar to reach a deal between Israel and Palestinian factions. This may help stop the ongoing conflict and reduce tensions in the region related to the holy sites in Jerusalem.
