Razan Al Mubarak Champions Urgent Climate Action at Bonn Climate Conference

 



On World Environment Day, Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak who is the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP28 delivered a powerful address at the Bonn Climate Change Conference emphasizing how urgently global action is needed to combat climate change. Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak then stressed that it is essential for this call to support an equitable net-zero resilient and nature-positive future as she cited UAE’s ambitious commitments under the UAE Consensus adopted at COP28 in Dubai. In this battle, she insisted on how crucial it was for all sectors to be involved in it, while also suggesting that natural habitats be preserved plus recuperated since they are vital. Al Mubarak launched the 2030 Climate Solutions, which is a detailed plan prepared by the Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action that sets very high targets in sectors such as habitat protection, land use, and water management besides the conventionally known energy and industrial sectors.

As the conference goes on, it’s preparing thing for COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Al-Mubarak’s main theme during the flagship event’s keynote speech was that “Multilevel Partnerships for Improved Nationally Determined Contributions Dialogue”. She noted that considerable advance had been achieved after COP28 emphasizing critical role which should be played by natural environment-related approaches in designing strategies addressing weather fluctuations. Thus she emphasized need of good management to quicken the pace of leadership at different stages, saying, “When we speak about climate change there is still a lot to be done”.  

The Bonn Conference is unique as it facilitates the only in-person interaction outside the COP meetings, allowing for direct dialogue and partnership building among a diverse group of stakeholders. As we approach COP29, the insights and commitments forged in Bonn are expected to play a decisive role in shaping the future of global climate action.
