Forging a Greener Future: Azerbaijan, UAE, and Brazil Collaborate on Climate Action

 





The partnership among Azerbaijan, the UAE and Brazil in the sphere of green power sources constitutes a significant step towards actions against global warming. By launching the “troika” project during the 15th Petersburg Climate Dialogue, these countries have taken the lead in initiating a model of partnership for enhancing collaboration and continuity in addressing issues related to the climate.


The procedures utilized are innovative to ensure mutual learning and experience sharing is encouraged while also providing a benchmark for the future COP events. Azerbaijan’s joint venture with Brazil in diplomatic relations and commissioning of Garadag Solar Power Station are evidence of our dedication to sustainable development targets on reducing greenhouse gases emission. This trilateral mechanism will be a catalyst for more progress as the globe moves towards greener pasture.

Azerbaijan invests in renewable energy infrastructure to show that it values environmental stewardship and long term sustainability. This means that Azerbaijan and its partners are working to reduce carbon emissions and create a cleaner, sustainable tomorrow.

President bin Zayed emphasized the critical need for accessible and affordable climate finance, citing the newly established UAE fund named Alterra as a strategic initiative to facilitate this. The fund's allocation includes $25 billion to attract institutional capital for large-scale climate investments and an additional $5 billion for risk mitigation capital, encouraging investment flows into developing countries.   China and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to deepen their cooperation in strategic areas, including development strategies, investment, and climate change. The two ministers agreed to take the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year as an opportunity to further consolidate the traditional friendship between their people. They also agreed to implement the important outcomes of the first China-Arab States Summit and the China-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, and to strive for reaching an agreement on the China-GCC free trade agreement as soon as possible.
