UAE Aid Extends Critical Support to Gaza Strip, Earns Praise from WHO Chief

In a commendable display of solidarity, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has garnered appreciation from Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The UAE Aid's substantial support in delivering essential medical supplies to Al Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem has proven instrumental in sustaining ongoing health services and replenishing critical medical stocks. As a key referral center in the occupied Palestinian territory, Al Makassed Hospital plays a vital role in providing healthcare services to the local population, and the timely assistance from UAE Aid ensures uninterrupted healthcare delivery.

Dr. Tedros expressed his gratitude on a post on platform X, acknowledging the UAE's contribution through a $25 million initiative. This financial backing enables the WHO to continue its life-saving work at Al Makassed Hospital, reinforcing the hospital's capacity to address the healthcare needs of the local community. The collaborative efforts between the UAE and the WHO underscore the importance of international partnerships in addressing humanitarian crises, with a focus on enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services in conflict zones.

The UAE's commitment to humanitarian aid goes beyond medical assistance, as evidenced by their extensive efforts in dispatching 141 relief flights, 121 trucks, and a relief ship carrying 4016 tonnes of aid to the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the country has played a pivotal role in advocating for peace at the United Nations Security Council. These multifaceted efforts highlight the UAE's dedication to alleviating the hardships faced by the Palestinian people and supporting vulnerable populations in conflict zones, showcasing the nation's commitment to global solidarity and humanitarian relief.
