Dubai Police Provides Millions in Support to Inmates and Families

 



For many, a prison sentence signifies not only the loss of freedom but also a descent into financial hardship and emotional turmoil. But in Dubai, inmates and their families are finding a beacon of hope in the unwavering support of the Dubai Police's Humanitarian Care Section.

Over the past three years, this dedicated team has disbursed a staggering AED 26.6 million in financial and in-kind assistance, alleviating burdens and offering a lifeline to those navigating the challenges of incarceration. From helping with housing rent and educational expenses to covering medical costs and even issuing birth certificates for newborns, the aid encompasses a myriad of needs. Captain Habib Al Zarouni, Head of the Section, emphasizes the initiative's impact, stating, "These generous contributions contribute to improving the living conditions of inmates, providing support to their families, and addressing their financial challenges."

More than just material support, the program embodies a profound respect for human rights and a commitment to reintegration. Brigadier Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, reiterates this mission: "These initiatives aim to guarantee full rights and improve inmates' quality of life, in alignment with Dubai Police's strategic directions to enhance security, safety, and community well-being." In this spirit, the program aligns with the state's legislative framework and promotes a culture of human rights, fostering tolerance and compassion regardless of background.
