UAE: A Steadfast Partner in Libya's Journey to Stability

 


In the face of adversity, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been a consistent source of support for friendly nations. This enduring commitment was vividly demonstrated during the challenging times brought about by Storm Daniel in Libya.

Triggered by severe flooding and heavy rains, the crisis left a significant toll, with countless lives lost and widespread damage. The UAE's humanitarian efforts, marked by professionalism and immediate action, were a testament to their unwavering solidarity.

 In the past, as soon as the storm struck, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan swiftly directed the dispatch of urgent relief aid and search and rescue (SAR) teams to Libya. This longstanding support highlighted the UAE's unwavering commitment to the Libyan people in their times of need.

The UAE's support extended to various forms of aid. This assistance included shelter, food, health supplies, and other essentials to aid those most affected by the catastrophe.

In the present, the ERC's team in eastern Libya tirelessly works to ensure ongoing aid reaches those affected by the floods, assesses the ground situation, and identifies further needs. As the recovery phase unfolds, the ERC remains dedicated to scaling up its relief programs, responding to the humanitarian needs of those affected, and alleviating the disaster's impact.

The UAE's past and present support for Libya reflects an enduring commitment to international development and humanitarian assistance. This sustained involvement showcases the profound impact that nations can make when they unite to support each other, especially during times of crisis.

President bin Zayed emphasized the critical need for accessible and affordable climate finance, citing the newly established UAE fund named Alterra as a strategic initiative to facilitate this. The fund's allocation includes $25 billion to attract institutional capital for large-scale climate investments and an additional $5 billion for risk mitigation capital, encouraging investment flows into developing countries. China and UAE to Deepen Cooperation in Strategic Areas

  China and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to deepen their cooperation in strategic areas, including development strategies, investment, and climate change. The two ministers agreed to take the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year as an opportunity to further consolidate the traditional friendship between their people. They also agreed to implement the important outcomes of the first China-Arab States Summit and the China-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, and to strive for reaching an agreement on the China-GCC free trade agreement as soon as possible. This is a strategic move by both countries. It's good to see them working together to achieve common goals as there's a lot of potential for both countries to benefit.
